SLES 70% is commonly used in personal care and cleaning formulations because it provides a practical balance of foam, detergency, compatibility and viscosity adjustment. These properties make it suitable for both standard formulas and cost-sensitive bulk production.
SLES can produce rich and stable foam in rinse-off personal care products and liquid detergents. It is often used in shampoos, body washes, hand washes and dishwashing liquids where foam volume, foam texture and quick foam generation are important to the final product experience.
As an anionic surfactant, SLES helps reduce surface tension and supports the removal of oil, sebum and surface dirt. This makes it suitable for cleansing systems used in shampoos, body washes, household detergents and selected hard surface cleaning products.
SLES can be combined with many common surfactants to adjust foam, mildness, viscosity and cleansing strength. In personal care formulations, it is often used together with amphoteric surfactants such as Cocamidopropyl Betaine (CAPB) to improve the overall feel of the formula while maintaining foam performance.
SLES performs consistently in both soft and moderately hard water, making it practical for products sold across different regional markets. It also shows a useful thickening response with sodium chloride, allowing formulators to adjust viscosity cost-effectively without additional thickeners.
SLES 70% is widely used in rinse-off personal care and cleaning formulations where stable foam, effective cleansing and practical cost control are required. For manufacturers, its value is not limited to foam volume. It also supports wetting, oil removal, viscosity adjustment and compatibility with common co-surfactants such as CAPB, APG and nonionic surfactants.
In shampoo formulations, SLES is often used to build the main foaming and cleansing system. It helps remove sebum, dust and styling product residues from the hair and scalp, while giving the shampoo the rich foam that consumers are familiar with. In milder shampoo systems, SLES is often used together with amphoteric surfactants such as Cocamidopropyl Betaine (CAPB) to make the foam feel softer and reduce the harshness of the overall surfactant system.
In body wash and shower gel products, SLES provides foam, cleansing performance and an easy-rinse feel. It can also be adjusted flexibly with co-surfactants, moisturizers, fragrance, salt or other additives. Therefore, for rinse-off body care products that need to balance foam, cost and production stability, SLES is still a common choice.
In liquid hand wash, SLES 70% supports quick foaming and daily cleansing performance. It is suitable for household, hotel, institutional and commercial hand wash formulas where cost efficiency and reliable foam are important. When a softer hand feel is required, the SLES dosage can be reduced or blended with milder surfactants such as APG or CAPB.
SLES is also a common choice in manual dishwashing liquid. It helps create foam during washing and supports the removal of oil from tableware, cookware and kitchen surfaces. Depending on the target formula, SLES can also be combined with other surfactants to improve foam stability, grease removal and final viscosity.
Beyond personal care products, SLES can also be used in multipurpose cleaners, bathroom cleaners, floor cleaners and selected industrial cleaning products. Its wetting and cleansing properties help the cleaning solution spread over surfaces and lift away dirt. For industrial cleaning or markets with different water conditions, Dotachem recommends small-scale formulation testing before regular production.
SLES 70% should be stored in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. The recommended storage temperature is 5–40°C. Low temperatures may cause the product to gel or become difficult to pump, so freezing should be avoided. Under proper storage conditions, the shelf life is typically 12 months from the date of production.
Before shipment, Dotachem conducts quality inspection on each batch to verify active matter content, pH value and appearance against the product specification. A COA is issued for every shipment and can be provided together with TDS and SDS for customs clearance and incoming quality control at the destination.
SLES 70% is generally handled as a non-hazardous material and can be shipped by sea, road or rail according to order and destination requirements. IBC and drum packaging are suitable for both FCL and LCL shipments, while flexibag is generally used for FCL shipment. Packaging should remain sealed during storage and transit to prevent contamination and moisture ingress.
