Grade-Dependent Physical Form
PEG grades range from clear liquids to waxy solids and flakes as molecular weight increases. This allows formulators to select a suitable grade according to the required viscosity, consistency and processing method.
Water Solubility and Compatibility
Polyethylene Glycol is soluble in water and compatible with many water-based formulation systems. Depending on the grade, it can be used as a carrier, co-solvent or formulation aid with surfactants, polymers and other ingredients.
Lubrication and Processing
In textile, rubber, plastics and metalworking formulations, PEG may serve as a lubricant, processing aid or release agent. Its performance depends on molecular weight, dosage and the composition of the formulation.
Moisture and Consistency Control
Lower-molecular-weight PEG grades can support moisture retention and fluidity, while higher-molecular-weight grades help build consistency and structure in suitable formulations.
Used in ointments, gels, capsules and suppository bases as a solvent, carrier or excipient.
