Alkyl Polyglucoside (APG) is a plant-based nonionic surfactant derived from renewable glucose and fatty alcohols. APG offers a strong balance of mildness, foam performance, formulation stability and biodegradability, making it different from many conventional surfactants.
Alkyl Polyglucoside has low irritation potential and is suitable for mild rinse-off formulations, including sensitive skin, baby care and eye-area products. Its irritation index is significantly lower than common anionic surfactants such as SLS and SLES.
APG produces fine and stable foam and provides strong wetting and penetration performance, even at low concentrations. It can help improve foam texture and cleaning efficiency in shampoo, body wash, facial cleanser, hand wash and detergent formulations.
APG remains stable and effective across a wide pH range of 4–12, making it suitable for both acidic and alkaline formulations. This gives formulators more flexibility in personal care, home care and industrial cleaning systems.

APG 0810 and APG 0814 are commonly selected for rinse-off personal care products because of their mildness, foam quality and good compatibility with other surfactants. APG 1214 is often considered for formulations requiring higher foam stability and stronger cleansing performance. With its low irritation profile, APG can be used as a milder alternative to SLES and SLS in sensitive skin and baby care formulations.
APG is used in dishwashing liquids, multipurpose cleaners, bathroom cleaners, floor cleaners and laundry products. It supports degreasing, detergency, wetting and foam stability while keeping the overall surfactant system relatively mild. APG 0810 is commonly used in light-duty liquid detergents, while APG 1214 is suitable for heavier-duty cleaning formulations.
